Explorer Leader
Explorers was the 4th tier of Scouting (now 5th with the advent of Squirrels), unlike Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, Explorers are not managed by the Group but by the Scouting District, however they are often hosted in premises belonging to a Group like Sale Central … and when that happens, they create an awareness that there is Life after Scouts.
Although Sale & District has 8 Scout Troops, it currently only has 2 Explorer Units which are often full to capacity.
Many young people (and Adults for that matter) are unaware that the skills that are taught throughout Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts are only truly tested in Explorers.
Explorers give young people the opportunity to lead and to showcase the skills that they have learned throughout their Scouting journey.
If you understand what Scouting offers and you enjoy many of the activities that Scouting offers then this may just be the role for you.
