The Scouts section typically caters for young people aged 10.5 – 14 years old, sadly, many young people believe that is where Scouting ends … far from it.

In Explorers, young people (14-18 years old) get the opportunity to use all the skills that they have gathered in Scouting (and in growing up), and use those Skills how they want to use them, in other words, they plan their own camp and activities. Adult Volunteers are always on hand to offer advice and encouragement but much of the emphasis is placed on young people taking charge.

In Sale and District, we currently have Three Explorer Units, we also have a Young Leader Unit where young people who may have been involved in Scouting, who don’t want to go up to Explorers but wish to keep involved in Scouting by becoming Young Leaders and helping out at the many different Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs (and in certain cases Scouts) meetings that are happening throughout our District almost every night of the week.
