FAQs
At Sale Central Scout Group, we currently have 3 Sections … Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.
The age group for each section is below
Beavers – 5 Years and 9 Months – 8 Years
Cubs – 8 Years – 10 Years and 6 Months
Scouts – 10 Years and 6 Months – 14 Years
At Sale Central Scout Group, we charge a subscription fee of £120 per year. To make this easier on family budgets, we break the payment down into 12 monthly payments of £10.
Parents/Carers may occasionally be asked to fund further optional events and activities like camps.
Yes, Scouting is a uniformed organisation and so we expect all young people to wear the uniform of their section. However, whilst a young person is trialling a Section then we do not expect them to obtain a uniform, just wearing comfortable ‘active’ clothing and footwear.
Our “minimum” uniform policy however is not funded by the group … at a minimum Parents/Carers are expected to provide a section specific (Beavers, Cubs or Scouts) uniform top. These can either be purchased online at the official Scout Store or locally Tru-Uniform in Northern Moor often carry a full stock.
When your child is invested into their Section, the group will provide them with their first Group Necker and a Woggle.
It is not only possible, it is very much encouraged, all of our uniformed Leaders and a board of Trustees are all volunteers … Scouting simply cannot exist without the goodwill of our amazing volunteers.

Yes and No, Scouting is open to people of all faiths (and people who choose no faith), we discourage nobody from joining, we do have some faith based badges that young people can work towards but these enable young people to explore all faiths or even just their own values as a person.
Sadly, we do. Scouting is incredibly popular with young people, however it is the shortage of Adult volunteers that limits the number of young people that we can accomodate.
To register the name of your child on our waiting list, please complete this form.
Alternatively, to volunteer your time as an Adult, please complete this form.
Scouting became co-educational (boys and girls) in 1976, though it took 16 years for this to spread throughout all of our sections.
Girlguiding offers a female only youth movement, which likely explains why we do not have a 50/50 split of boys and girls in Scouting … but most sections in most Scout groups have many female members.
Sale Central Scout Group currently have six units who meet in one of two premises.
